How to Choose the Best Shades for Your Skin Tone
When it comes to wearing colors, many women fear making a mistake, so they often play it safe with neutrals like black, navy, brown, or beige. However, color is meant to wow, complement your skin tone, hair, and eyes, and reinforce your style!
First, determine your skin tone. Check here: How to Determine Your Skin Tone in 5 Minutes
Cool Skin Tones: The most flattering colors for you are black, deep purple, cobalt blue, forest green, fuchsia, blue-greens, and pastels. Avoid colors like brown, rust, and orange, as they can be unflattering. Silver jewelry will look best on you.
Celebrities with cool skin tones include Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, and Anne Hathaway. Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks are also cool-toned beauties.
Warm Skin Tones: You look best in rich browns, rust, tomato red, orange, cranberry, teal blue, emerald green, bubblegum pink, and gold. Avoid khaki, grey, and pastel blue shades, as they can wash you out. Gold jewelry will enhance your look.
Jennifer Lopez, Nicole Scherzinger, and Beyoncé embody warm skin tones. Julianne Moore, a natural redhead, is also warm-toned.
Neutral Skin Tones: Lucky you! You can look fabulous in both cool and warm shades.
Typically, East Asians are cool-toned, while most South and Southeast Asians are warm-toned. African-Americans can be either warm or cool, depending on their undertones. Those with blue undertones are cool, while those with a copper cast are considered warm.
